Our Calling for Ganga

The primary goal of Ganga Shoora is to restore the environmental and spiritual sanctity of the Ganga River and its tributaries in the hill regions of Uttarakhand within the next five years through structured, measurable, and scalable action plans.

Our Specific goals include:

Ultimately, our goal is not just to clean a river—it is to build a legacy of environmental stewardship that future generations can sustain and be proud of.

ABOUT US

A community-driven movement

Ganga Shoora is a community-led environmental initiative focused on the cleaning, conservation, and restoration of the Ganga River, especially in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand, India. Founded by a group of eco-conscious citizens, nature lovers, spiritual thinkers, and youth leaders, our mission is to bring back the purity, beauty, and biodiversity of the Ganga through on-ground action and environmental awareness. We are not just an organization—we are a movement. A movement that calls every Indian and global citizen to step forward and become a protector of the Ganga, one of the most sacred and life-giving rivers in the world. At Ganga Shoora, we believe real change starts with real people. Our volunteers physically clean riverbanks, organize eco-camps, remove plastic waste, and spread awareness about sustainable and responsible river practices. We also collaborate with schools, local authorities, spiritual institutions, and businesses to amplify our impact.
What we do:
  • Organize river cleanup camps

  • Remove waste and plastic from riverbanks

  • Teach people to protect the environment

  • Encourage sustainable living near rivers

Our Sacred Efforts

Restoring the purity of the Ganga in the heart of Uttarakhand

Ongoing River Clean-up Drives

We conduct regular clean-up drives along the Ganga, removing plastic waste and debris from riverbanks and ghats. These efforts are powered by local volunteers, youth, and partner communities united by a shared devotion to protect Ma Ganga.

River Restoration Campaigns

We have restored over 10 major ghats in Rishikesh, Devprayag, and Rudraprayag. Through campaigns like Plastic-Free Ghats and eco-volunteer programs, we’ve mobilized communities to reclaim and respect these sacred spaces.

Impact in Numbers

With over 50 tons of waste removed and 2,000+ volunteers engaged, our mission continues to grow. We’ve educated local villages, revived ghats, and built a grassroots movement for a cleaner, living Ganga.

"Joining Ganga Shoora has been a truly rewarding experience. It’s inspiring to see students take action through clean-up drives and nature camps. This isn’t just awareness—it’s empowerment in motion."
